Dolores Escobar told the
Priory Website "I was in NYC for two days this past December and had a mini
reunion of sorts - spent a great afternoon with John Johnson and then met up
with Karlene Wint for coffee and catching up.
It was great!"

The Priory Website is sad to record the passing of Rhonda Brown on 5th February 2011. Rhonda was a Priory student between 1969 and 1971. She is survived by fellow past Priory students, her twin Donna and older sister Debbie. Our thoughts are with the whole family.

David Coore leaves Priory Trust Society
from George Cumming
After serving on the Board of the Priory School Trust Society since 1967, The Hon David Coore, resigned as he emigrated last Saturday to live in the Dominican Republic. Bob Fowler, our Deputy Chairman and I took turns having a photo taken, presenting him with a plaque in recognition of his significant contribution over the years.
The plaque reads "We salute in recognition of your outstanding and unbroken years of service to the Priory Trust Society 1967 - 2011.
The Priory Trust Society has benefitted significantly from your wise and valuable counsel, which will be deeply missed.
Your contribution and support will always be remembered.
THE TRUSTEES, PRIORY TRUST SOCIETY
March 21, 2011"

A visit to Donald Lancaster's Album

Donald in 1973

Donald in 2005
I am scanning my Dad's slides that he took while we lived in Jamaica (August, 1971 to July, 1973) My parents were Peace Corps volunteers at a time when the organization tried taking volunteer families. My sister, Doris, and I attended Priory during that time.
The first photo was taken in 1972, I believe in January. John Carroll and his parents were leaving Jamaica for El Paso, Texas. I went to Palisadoes Airport to see him off. I am on the left and John is on the right.

The next few photos were taken at a Priory - Spanish Town basketball game played at the National Stadium. It was played during the 1972-1973 academic year. I cannot remember the date or the opposing school's name. I do know the Spanish Town school was coached by Peace Corps volunteer, Steve Webber. The uniform number wearers, to the best of my knowledge, are as follows: #4 - Ron Zimmerman; #5 - Howard O'Connor; #10 - ; #11 - Don Lancaster; #13 - Jon Wall or Guy Martin

An Update on those Florida Reunions
from Peter 'Speedy' Smith

Peter 'Speedy' Smith 1973

Peter 'Speedy' Smith 2011
Dear Priory Alumni,
Please forgive me for not posting or hosting the February and March birthdays at Truck Stop this year! yet... I'll tell you why in a second, but first let me thank you all for your past support so far!
For those of you who have expressed your concerns and ideas for continuing the "the Priory Alumni Birthday's" event thank you very much. I will need every ones input to make this a successful turn out once again for every event!
Please note that your classmates and teachers living outside the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area have expressed to me and to others, their desire to one day come to one of these events in the near future. Please help me in letting this be achieved and not just a wish.
A lot of complaints have come to the surface on using Truck Stop as the primary location has caused my the concern on looking for new location(s) and possible new venues to change the mood. The complaints are as follows. Gas prices on the rise again and every one having to drive 60 miles or more. Liquor prices are very high (2 to 3 drinks are almost the price of the 750ml bottle it self). Jerk Chicken at times is not fully cooked through to the bone and the biggest complaint is the mosquitoes eating you alive, with after effects for a week!
Some suggestions for a new location(s) are: At some ones house (different homes each month) or a cook-out at a park during the day on the weekend, at a local Sports bar in your city, at a Jamaican Restaurant or a Restaurant by the Bay or along the Inter coastal. I am open to and welcome all your suggestions.
I can only hope the response on new ideas for where, when and what time will be many and not like last time, little to none! Thank you all in advance for all your support and understanding in helping me continue to be your host for Priory Birthday Celebrations.
Sincerely,
Peter D Smith (Speedy)

Help Jonathan Remember his Anancy Stories

Past Priory student and owner of the business which produces the delicious Caymanas Rum Cakes, Jonathan McCulloch posed the following question. Can you help him please?
Do you remember the Anancy stories told on JBC TV in the late 60’s and early 70’s? If so, do you remember the name of the presenter? I remember he told them in a thick, gravelly patois accent. We used to listen to the show when very young in the mid ‘60’s. It was on I believe on after Romper Room with Miss Lou on a Saturday morning.
